We bought this Jim Shore Haunted House from a store called the "Farmer's Almanac" in the Boardwalk, Bossier City, LA. We paid only $43 during an after-Halloween sale (it was originally $175 in the store). Ours was still sealed in the original Jim Shore package. We followed the instructions for set-up, although they said there was an on-off "button," but ours had a push button.
It IS very well done with terrific details. It's a nice size and very heavy. That's not the problem, though. When we took it out of the box to see how it looked and sounded, we noticed that it only lit up and played sound for a couple of seconds when we initially pushed the button. It stopped after that. We got on the Jim Shore webpage and read that it's "sound activated." We clapped our hands near it....nothing. We talked loudly.....nothing. I made one last try at it and screamed bloody murder in front of the thing.....it worked!!! Then it stopped. We never laughed so much in our lives!!
My nephew loves Halloween and collects items like this. He also has a great voice and set of lungs. He'll get this for his birthday present next year. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it.
