(More customer reviews)I purchased this cage cover for the Midwest 142 Ferret Nation Double-Level Ferret Cage with Ramps, 36 Inches by 25 Inches by 62.5 Inches which is 36 Inches wide by 25 Inches deep by 62.5 Inches height. I have been a happy user of this cover for several months and I highly recommend this cage cover. This cover has exceeded my expectations and is yet another excellent item from a company known for their quality ferret supplies at an affordable price.
The cage cover is black and looks very nice on the cage, either open or zipped close. Quality, medium weight material with reinforced seams, tailor made to fit the marshall cage although it also is an excellent fit for the 142 2-story Ferret Nation cage I mentioned above. 2 zippers on either side of the front which gives you the option of opening the front panel of the cover which allows you to access the cage from the front and see your ferrets while they are in the cage.The front panel is rolled to the front top of the cage and is held in place by 3 straps which velcro to the cover. Very nice feature and easy to do.
Easy to install and to remove when needed. Machine-washable, I use the gentle cycle and low tumble. Regular detergent, no fabric softener as some ferrets are sensitive to the scent that fabric softener leaves behind.
There are also vented/screened windows which is an important feature if you have the cover closed. 2 on each side of the cover and 1 in the top. This keeps the air circulating when the cover is closed to avoid excessive moisture while giving the owner the added benefit of being able to see the ferrets. For me, being able to give my ferrets a darker cage for sleeping or to temporarily close the cover when company comes over if I choose is nice. If you have the Ferret Nation cage like I do, the cover saves your walls if the ferret misses the litter box and aims high ;) Using this cover also allows for you to store items, such as ferret supplies, on top of the cage and little ferret hands can't reach through to mess with these items.
(NOTE: FOR FERRET NATION CAGE OWNERS) On the 142 Ferret Nation cage, the cover is a good fit with minor mismatching. As you can see in the photograph I uploaded (see the product pictures and choose the customer images link above) the cover is not quite long enough however... I like that it's a little short which gives me access to the bottom wire shelf used for storing supplies. The cover completely covers the cage with the exception of the bottom wire shelf which is a separate space from the main cage. Also, when you roll up the front cover panel, you have easy access to the lower level doors. When accessing the top level doors, however, you have to raise the cover top to open the doors. Not a big deal and well worth this minor hassle considering the many benefit's this cover offers me. The window vent holes line up with the main platform shelves, not the half shelves.
I am very happy with my cover and keep it on the cage 24/7, with the front panel open usually. Highly recommended and worth the price in my opinion. In fact, I plan to buy a 2nd cover for when I need to wash this cover :o)
