(More customer reviews)I originally searched for mailbox posts designs to build one. The design I liked was this Mayne Newport. After realizing these were sold, I decided to buy instead. It is vinyl (3 colors choice) and the post section is hollow to accept a 4x4 post that is 4' tall. The hollow section slides over a post you install and provides a snug fit. The mailbox arm is a separate part that fits perfectly into the recess of the vertical post part and is attached at a height you select using 2ea 3/8" lag screws/washers. These lags are behind the mailbox and not visible once the mailbox is installed. There is a wood 2x4 inserted into the horizontal vinyl arm that holds the mailbox to give it more strength and provide solid attachment for the mailbox. It is not as rigid as a solid wood post/arm would be, but unless you routinely have bars of led or gold delivered to your mailbox, I couldn't imagine its vinyl construction would ever be a problem. It looks fantastic and couldn't be easier to install.
