(More customer reviews)I am a children's book author. However, I am also a great fan of slavery novels. I have read many slavery books over the years, but this is by far the best. "Luke's Summer Secret" is easy to read and it holds your attention until the very end. I would like to commend Randall Wisehart on a well written book.
I am presently reading the sequel "Winding Road to Freedom". I hope Mr. Wisehart continues to write many more books concerning this very intersting subject. If you have not purchased these books, I would advise you do so. It's worth the read.

At the ripe age of thirteen, Luke was contemplating running away from his home in Cincinnati. His aunt and uncle had given him a home after his father and mother died, but Luke had not felt loved or needed.A chance to travel to Newport, Indiana, with his uncle gave him the opportunity to meet Levi Coffin and his life was forever changed. Luke soon learned that events surrounding the Coffin home were not the same as he had experienced in Cincinnati. Luke found himself in the middle of activities that not only made him fearful, but also gave him satisfaction as he became an important part in the working of the "Underground Railroad."
