The Roanoke Times says, "Jamestown: Journey Back in Time" is a fun and engaging read. Other readers comment that the story seems so real they feel they are actually walking along with Johnnie, the main character. I think what is most endearing about this book is that Johnnie is a kid who basically has a lot but doesn't really appreciate it. Through a bizarre accident he ends up back in Jamestown. There he learns many lessons about the time and himself. He also finds himself working for Captain John Smith, who teaches Johnnie more than just navigation. The story moves along pretty quickly and there are several plot complications to keep the reader engaged. There are no real "dead spots" because too much is going on in Johnnie's life. It is a coming of age story that should have wide appeal.
