Kelly knows he is a boy but the rest of the world didn't get the memo. When he decides to give in and let his new friends think what they like, he finds out 2 things. They really do think he is a girl and maybe he doesn't mind. However he is only twelve and it is a big deal to decide whether to keep up the charade or force people to accept him as a boy.
Kelly lives in a world that may seem trite but is all too real. He lives in poverty with his single mother, trying to get by in a world that ignores the plight of unwed mothers. His grandmother is an alcoholic that can't help. Trying to describe it makes it sound like a soap opera, but there are real people like this.
There are several surprises in store for the reader as the week plays out. It could have been a very dark story but I'm glad the author didn't go there. I just hope there is a sequel.

Twelve-year-old Kelly Drew can't seem to convince anyone he's actually a boy! A comedy of miss-taken identity for a boy who's too pretty for his own good. Kelly is smart and sassy and the story romps through one miss-adventure into another from lost luggage to madcap escape.
