There are two ultimate tests for a good read: first, does the reader not want the book to end, and second,
does the reader envy the author's writing ability. This book passes the test on both. I'm familiar with history and ships. I served both in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Merchant Marine as well as worked on fishing boats. I loved the story and found it to be both historically and technically accurate. I have sailed most of the coast that the author describes and it is geographically accurate. I initially thought it was a historical novel, then, perhaps, a romance, but it turned into a fine sea story.I have already recommended it to friends and look forward to the next book.
