(More customer reviews)It was a nice surprise to find the book, Fletcher Destroyer Bluejacket: Voyages of the USS McGowan DD 678 1951-54, on Amazon.com earlier this year. While searching for another book, on a whim I decided to put the name and number of the destroyer I served on in the early fifties in the search block. Up popped Bob Johnson's book Fletcher Destroyer Bluejacket about the McGowan. Obviously I enjoyed reading about the two years I spent on the destroyer from 1953 to 1954. Thank you Bob for bringing back the memories of an enjoyable cruise on a wonderful ship with an excellent crew of sailors.
